Music has been the central thread of my life since I first picked up a saxophone in Brooklyn, New York.For more than six decades, I have worked as a saxophonist, record producer, composer, arranger and songwriter. That journey has taken me from the New York recording scene to recording studios and concert stages around the world, working with artists including the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, The Isley Brothers, Stevie Wonder, The Rolling Stones, Marvin Gaye, Ringo Starr, B.B. King, Van Dyke Parks, Melissa Manchester, Leo Sayer and The Pointer Sisters.Today, an important focus of my musical life is my work with the inimitable Japanese jazz pianist and composer Masumi Yamamoto and her group, Masumi Yamamoto and TLQ plus. I serve as co-leader, saxophonist, record producer, arranger and co-composer.I am still playing. Still recording. Still composing. Still arranging. Still producing—and still discovering where the music can go next.

ニューヨーク・ブルックリンで初めてサックスを手にして以来、音楽はずっと私の人生を貫く一本の糸のような存在でした。
60年以上にわたり、私はサックス奏者、レコードプロデューサー、作曲家、編曲家、ソングライターとして活動してきました。その音楽の旅は、ニューヨークのレコーディングシーンから始まり、世界各地のレコーディングスタジオやコンサートステージへと広がっていきました。これまでに、Paul Butterfield Blues Band、The Isley Brothers、Stevie Wonder、The Rolling Stones、Marvin Gaye、Ringo Starr、B.B. King、Van Dyke Parks、Melissa Manchester、Leo Sayer、The Pointer Sistersをはじめとするアーティストたちと仕事をしてきました。
現在、私の音楽人生において大切な活動のひとつとなっているのが、唯一無二の日本人ジャズピアニスト／作曲家 Masumi Yamamoto、そして彼女のグループ「Masumi Yamamoto and TLQ plus」との活動です。私は共同リーダーとして、サックス奏者、レコードプロデューサー、編曲家、そして共同作曲家を務めています。
私は今も演奏しています。今もレコーディングをしています。今も作曲し、編曲し、プロデュースしています。そして今もなお、音楽が次にどこへ向かっていくのか、その可能性を探し続けています。
